Starting kindergarten is an exciting milestone for both students and families, filled with new experiences and routines. To ensure a smooth and positive beginning at Evatt Primary School, here’s what families need to know about the first day, key routines, and the first week of settling in. We’re here to support each student’s transition and help them feel confident and comfortable as they embark on this new journey.
FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
- The first day of school is Monday, 3rd February.
- All students are required to wear the full school uniform. Please ensure all items are clearly labelled.
- Students will meet their classroom teacher in the Library Courtyard. A teacher will be on duty from 8:40 am, and the bell will ring at 8:57 am to start the school day. Students should be picked up from the Library Courtyard at 3:00 pm.
FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL
The first week of Kindergarten focuses on helping students settle into their new school environment. During this time, students will:
- Learn key routines such as where to line up in the morning and after breaks, how to enter and exit the classroom, and the location of the bathrooms.
- Become familiar with the daily timetable and Evatt Primary School’s behavioural expectations.
- Explore designated play areas and learn where they can and cannot play during breaks.
Kindergarten students will eat their lunch and snacks in the Library Courtyard. For the first few weeks, this area is reserved exclusively for Kindergarten students to help them feel safe and comfortable. Students are also welcome to explore the main playground areas when they feel ready. This gradual introduction is designed to help students settle in with confidence and ease.
