EXECUTIVE NEWS

Thank You Canteen Team

A big thank you to our wonderful canteen team for our special lunch order day at school yesterday. It was highly anticipated with a sense of excitement throughout the air with our students all morning yesterday.

At a time when we are limited with our opportunities for excursions and incursions, days like this are very much enjoyed throughout the school.

A big shout out to Ash, April and Nicole for all of their hard work in the canteen yesterday.

Hello and Thank you Glen

We have been very fortunate to secure the skilful and hardworking Glen Massey as our Building Services Officer this year while Brad Spence works internally at the Education Directorate. Glen is doing a fantastic job keeping our school neat and tidy as well as supporting our students and staff with the day to day operations of the school.

If you see Glen around during drop off or pick up make sure you say hello. Thanks Glen for all of your great work.

Learning Walks

This week the school executive team commenced Learning Walks in all of our classrooms throughout the school. The purpose of these is to understand the effectiveness of an agreed practice across classrooms. Research indicates that consistency of practice has higher learning outcomes for students.

A focus at Evatt Primary has been to sharpen our consistency with the teaching and learning of writing across the school and Learning Walks are a way of understanding and sharing practice across classrooms. Our teachers will be visiting classrooms other than their own in coming weeks to further strengthen our collective skillset around writing.

Make sure you check in with your child(ren) at home about what they have been working on in their writers workshops at school!

Resource Management System

You may have seen on our Evatt Primary School Facebook page this week our post about our new Resource Management system at school. With a strong focus on sustainability, one of our school values, the staff and students have worked hard to revamp strong sustainable systems.

Our post is below. A reminder you can follow us on Facebook if you do not already @evattprimaryschool.

This year, Evatt Primary School has launched a new resource management system as part of our commitment to being a more sustainable school. This includes six different ways of sorting our resources: 10c containers, organic material, landfill, mixed recycling, clean paper, and soft plastics.

Over the past week alone, our new system has saved over 10 big bags of resources that would have normally gone to landfill. This will only continue to grow as the year goes!
