EXECUTIVE NEWS

Thank You and Farewell Louise Frawley

Next Thursday we say thank you and farewell to Louise Frawley who will be retiring after 42 years of teaching. Louise has worked as an executive teacher at Evatt Primary School for the past 10 years specialising in coaching our teachers to support their development of teaching literacy and working closely with many students across the school.

Throughout Louise's 42 years in education, she has worked at 9 schools across the ACT as well as delivered a range of professional development to teachers here and interstate. Her commitment to such a long and extraordinary career can be attributed to her passion for supporting students to learn and progress and also supporting teachers to build their capacity as educators.

Please join me in congratulating and thanking Louise for all that she has given Evatt Primary School and 42 years of service in education.

Book Week, 2014

Cross Country Carnival

Last Friday we were fortunate enough to hold our Cross Country Carnival here at Evatt Primary School. All of the students that participated ran or walked their hearts out and the house spirit and pride shone brightly throughout the day. A number of students from Evatt will go on to compete at the regional Cross Country Carnival next term. We certainly missed our parents and community cheering our students on but are already looking forward to this being back to some form of normality next year. A big thank you to Ben Sterland and the coordination team for a great event.

Harmony Day

It was lovely to see our students across the school participate in a range of learning activities to celebrate Harmony Day last week. It was also an opportunity to celebrate the many cultures of our families here at Evatt that provide so much to our community each and every day. Thank you to Sue Parker and Sarah Shaddock who coordinated our Harmony Day celebrations.

Anzac Ceremony

Next Friday our school leaders will host our annual ANZAC Ceremony here at Evatt Primary School. During this time our students will learn about and reflect on the sacrifices that have been made for our freedoms we enjoy everyday. ANZAC day this year falls on the first Monday of term 2.
