School and Community
YOUR INVOLVEMENT
Co-operation and free exchange of ideas between parents and teachers are regarded as a vital part of each child's development and progress.
Parents and any other interested members of the community are welcome to assist in the classrooms and units, and with various excursions and other educational activities. Parents can provide invaluable assistance with reading, craft, music, physical education, sport and electives. Parent involvement in the school allows the children to benefit by contact interaction with a larger number of adults.
Parents are always welcome to make arrangements with the teacher to visit and observe work in the classes. The most important involvement parents can have with their children's education is an active and continuing interest in their school activities, whether this interest is expressed at school or at home.
From time to time Parent Training Programs are held. These opportunities will help parents to assist children at home in ways consistent with current teaching strategies, as well as equipping parents to be effective helpers in the School.
SCHOOL BOARD
The role of the School Board, as set out in the Department of Education & Training Ordinance 1976, is to determine the educational policy and curriculum of the school, to assess the physical, financial and staffing needs of the school, and to develop the relationship between the school and the community.
The Board comprises three parents elected by the parents and citizens, two teachers elected by the staff and the Principal.
The Board works closely with the school community, the staff and P & C Association. It has the responsibility to assist staff in the task of making the School meet the needs of the community.
The Board is required to meet 4 times per year. Parents are always welcome to attend.
P & C ASSOCIATION
The aim of the P & C Association is to bring together parents, teachers, Board members and interested citizens with the common goal of providing a high standard of primary education for the children of the School through practical help. The Association seeks to foster parent interest in, and understanding of the educational processes of the School and to promote community interest. It is also involved in raising funds to supplement Government funding & so enhance the learning environment of the School, and it provides the machinery for the election of parent representatives to the School Board.
The Committee members are elected early in the school year and the Association is always pleased to welcome interested parents.
Meetings are held on Wednesdays at 7:00pm in the staffroom.

The Canteen is open from Tuesday-Friday each week of the school year. The service is provided by an outside company, Food on the Run.

STUDENTS REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL
The SRC is a forum where students can voice ideas and develop proposals to take to the wider school community. The members are elected from Kindegarten to Year 6, and the group meets regularly on a fortnightly basis. The SRC is coordinated by elected student leaders and a teacher advisor.
The SRC has been involved in regular discussions on such subjects as encouraging positive behaviour, promoting healthy lifestyles and encouraging road safety. Members of the SRC attend the World Vision Global Leadership Conference, as well as the Year 5/6 SRC Forum.
The SRC hosts annual fundraisers to raise community awareness and provide monetary support to World Vision and Stewart House. Events such as the March Fair, Dolphin Day and The Talent Quest also provides an opportunity for SRC members to promote the performing arts to our student
